COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT THRUOGH POLYTECHNIC (CDTP)
    Introduction
    The Community Development through Polytechnic (CDTP) scheme was initiated by the Department of Higher Education, MHRD, and GOI through NITTTR, Chandigarh in the year February, 2010 for the upliftment of the weaker section of the society, rural masses and school dropouts free of cost. Vast majority of rural people and those in slums require assistance in adopting appropriate technology for benefiting them in science and technology and enhancing their productivity and standard of living. Such Skill Development training courses attract beneficiaries from all cross-sections of Indian society with special emphasis on SCs/STs, OBCs, Women, school dropouts, minorities, physically disabled, economically weaker sections of the society and other under-privileged persons.
    Objectives: -
    1. To Carry out Need Assessment Surveys to assess the technology and training needs;
    2. To Impart Skill Development Training to the intended target groups;
    3. To disseminate Appropriate Technologies for productivity enhancement;
    4. To provide Technical and Support Services to rural masses and slums dwellers;
    5. To create Awareness among the target groups about technological advancement and
    contemporary issues of importance.

    CURRENT EFFORTS

    All Skill Development courses have been aligned with NSQF at basic levels and linking data with LMIS

    To provide quality of technical education by adopting NSQF at Level  1-IV for weaker section of society, SC/OBC and PWD, s.

    The effort are being done for overall development of personality of trainers and trainees.

    To create Awareness regarding self/wage employment through various entrepreneurial agencies.

    Efforts have been made to make them competent to earn their livelihood. by organizing  awareness camps.

    To give the talent by using new technologies in the hands of rural youths, women and other weaker sections of the society.

    The success of the scheme depends entirely on grass root level with the help of NGO’s and all others who are directly or indirectly linked with the scheme.

    Efforts have been made to improve the soft skill and entrepreneurial competency of trainees.

    The Scheme is tamporarily stopped classes and other works due to Non receipt of GId from ministry.GOI even after most successful scheme in northern India.
